The railroad says six freight cars derailed in the Cherokee Yard near West 23rd Street and Southwest Boulevard just after midnight. Tulsa Police said a highway bridge over the derailment was closed briefly because one of the derailed cars scraped a bridge support.

North Charleston firefighters responded Thursday afternoon to a fire that spread to five rail cars at CSX Transportation, 2700 Bennett Yard Road. Authorities received a call about the fire around 1:30 p.m., according to the department's spokeswoman Bianca Bourbeau.
