A vacancy has arisen for a Senior Hardware Engineer and within the Communication Products group who are responsible for the development of Digital Processors for use in telecommunication Satellites. The processor functionality ranges from high capacity channelisers, supporting intersatellite optical data links, to implementing cryptographic algorithms to protect the spacecraft. In this rewarding role you will be developing some of the highest performing digital communication payload equipment available anywhere in the world, and be part of the rapidly expanding space sector. The availability of advanced Payload Equipment is the driving force behind the digital telecommunication satellite industry, and the team is a proven world leader in this field. This role would also suit an Experienced Digital Hardware Engineer with an interest in becoming a Team Leader, as there are opportunities to develop within the team. The successful candidate will be subject to UK Secret Security Clearance UK Security Clearance in order to undertake related work in accordance with business needs. As a Digital Hardware Engineer, your main duties will be Working as part of a hardware team designing complex digital communication processors, the key equipment on Telecoms satellite payload. Design capture and performance analysis using state of the art techniques and toolsets. Performing design analysis, i.e. parts stress and worst case. Working closely with Application Specific Integrated Circuits ASIC Field Programmable Gate Arrays FPGA designers and printed circuit board PCB layout engineers. Coordinating design analyses by company experts in areas such as thermal, mechanical, radiation and EMC.To be successful for this Digital Hardware Engineer role, you need to have the following skills Experience of the complete hardware design cycle, from requirements capture, through schematic design and constraints capture. Commissioning of prototype designs at board and unit level. Design analyses and handson support of hardware assembly, integration, environmental qualification and production testing. Electronic circuit design, digital and analog, debug, characterisation and design verification. Any experience in the following is desirable and NOT essential training will be provided Experience of the mentor graphics DxDesigner CES flow.
