ASTM standard B975, Test Method for Measurement of Internal Stress of Metallic Coatings by Split Strip Evaluation, will provide simple and effective way to determine tensile and compressive stress for metallic coatings used on wide range of consumer products, such as pens, doorknobs, lamps, cars, and jewelry. Standard will also be used in the automotive, aerospace, and military industries, particularly by companies that create metallic layers for parts and components.
