Ashford Hospitality was one of the only hotel REITs that did not cut its preferred dividend during the financial crisis, when stocks all around it were getting crushed. Other hotel REITs did not manage their respective debts as well as Ashford did, so many of them cut their preferred dividends in addition to reducing their common dividends.
