It employs some 40,000 employees generating revenues of approximately 14 billion per year. A vacancy for an Assembly Team Leader has arisen within Airbus Defence Space in Portsmouth. You will be responsible for a Mechanical Assembly Team of up to 8 staff including subcontractors, supported by the Assembly Operations Manager. You will support the Integration Manager on Mechanical Assembly aspects of a project with respect to preparation and operations. You will ensure the operational team are focused on the correct priorities and are working to clearly identified deadlines for tasks You will play a major role in operational process improvement and achieve schedule and cost during project operational phases. Your main tasks and responsibilities will include Support Project Lead Engineer with Mechanical Assembly documentation to ensure standardisation, aid with project preparation activities Assist with validation of Project work packages critically analyse schedule Mechanical Assembly, hands on as required Daily personnel management right skill, right person, right place, right time, Timekeeping, Ensuring team complete Timesheets, Tooling, Behaviour, Team Morale Chair Daily Meetings during Communications Module mechanical phase Daily planning and completion, control and coordination of assembly documentation ensuring applicability and closure Process improvement implementation providing an active role in lessons learned to improve processes and identify problems encountered to the Integration manager Implement and maintain 5S within the working area Shift information management daily logs, operations log etc. Ensure project schedule, cost and quality adherence Management reporting, and front line interface with the AIT Project Team serving as a Technical reference for the Project in the Cleanroom for AIT Mechanical Assembly Aspects Reviews skills requirements with the Integration manager in line with operational needs Reports daily resource variance against the expected work package requirements to the Integration Manager Allocates tasks to team and ensures that the shifts are adequately loaded with materials and documentation Scoping out the initial problems on line and identifying resolution Change Request input Health Safety Governance for Cell including product liability Input to project production GO meeting preparation Performs Operations team Training Test team leader and planner Scheduler liaison Task facility readiness management FWD looking. This role will involve some travel for business and as such you must be able to travel accordingly. We are looking for candidates with the following skills and experience Minimum of HNC level or equivalent in Manufacturing or Production disciplines Experience within the aerospace, telecommunications industry Previous experience working in a high quality driven process orientated engineering organization Extensive experience in Assembly, Manufacturing or Production environment People Management Supervisory experience, leadership skills Hands on experience with Mechanical Electrical Manufacturing operations Hands on experience with RF Assembly and fitting operations including COAX and Wave Guide Experience of Lean engineering Clean room experience Automated Test Equipment Timesheet Management Good communication skills Fluent level in English.
