Sydney Morning Herald: Victoria is experiencing its first real heat wave since 2009, when three days of temperatures over 42 degrees in late January culminated in the infamous Black Saturday of February 7. On that day the temperature in Melbourne reached the highest ever recorded: 46.4 degrees.
The current heatwave might not be quite as hot, but as it is likely to last four days with temperatures well in excess of 40 degrees, it will be one of the most extreme heatwaves we have ever experienced.
