(Telecompaper) BT's board met on 9 December to discuss a possible takeover bid for mobile operators EE or O2, but did not settle on which to buy, sources familiar with the matter told the Telegraph. CEO Gavin Patterson and his advisers aim to agree on a price for one of the operators by Christmas and to start due dilligence as soon as possible. "They're going to do a bit more digging and probably some more negotiating," a banking source said. Stephane Richard, CEO of Orange, EE's joint owner with Deutsche Telekom, previously said he expected to know more before Christmas. Analysts have said that O2 would be easier to integrate and less expensive to acquire than EE.
