BT confirms 300 Mbps FTTP service, new Home Hub 5 router

(Telecompaper) BT has confirmed plans to launch the BT Home Hub 5 later in 2013. The BT Home Hub 5 will come with ac Wi-Fi, four GigE ports and an integrated VDSL modem. It will be included in all BT Infinity packages as standard. Existing Infinity customers will be able to recontract to get a Home Hub 5 free or will be able to buy one for a small fee. Hub 4 will continue to be offered as an inclusive part of the package with all copper broadband packages. BT also confirmed plans to launch a 300 Mbps FTTP service. The service will initially be available within 50 exchange areas where FTTP infrastructure has been deployed to date, and will offer downstream and upstream speeds of up to 300 Mbps and 20 Mbps respectively. Existing FTTP customers will also be able to upgrade to the faster speeds by upgrading to the GBP 50 Unlimited package, which comes without any usage limits and is free from traffic management.
