(Telecompaper) The Belgian government is expected to announce shortly Dominique Leroy as its candidate for the new CEO of Belgacom, L'Echo reports. The state, which holds 53.5 percent of Belgacom shares, is expected to follow the recommendation of headhunters Russels Reynolds, which put Leroy at the top of the list of candidates. She has worked at Belgacom since 2011, starting first as sales executive and joining the management team as head of the consumer activities in June 2012. Prior to that she worked 24 years at Unilever, lastly as MD of its Benelux activities. Her appointment still needs approval by Belgacom's management board. While the board's next meeting was not expected until late February to look at the annual results, L'Echo's sources said the government is pushing for a quicker decision, and the board could meet as early as 08 or 09 January. Leroy would take over from CFO Ray Stewart, who has served as interim CEO since Didier Bellens was dismissed in November.
