Outline Job Profile We have developed a software solution for the Skynet 5 programme, which requires an extensionupdate under a future RD studies programme. A C Software developer is required to supplement the existing Team, to design Code testing the software solutions and the creation of software builds based in Portsmouth. The candidate will be expected to document the solutions and test results in accordance with project standards and to communicate effectively and concisely to the rest of the team. The prospective candidate will start with a knowledge transfer by a C team member. The role will be to initially support the development phase over the next 6 months. The application also contains GUI written in Java, which will require also require update modification. It is desirable that the prospective candidate has knowledge of Java GUI development. Duties include Have the skills to Peer review areas of the design. Document Design deceisons clearly and concisely Code implementation Software unit testing Liaison with system engineering to finalise design and agree interface requirements. Essential Characteristics It is essential that the candidate has a strong understanding of C preferably 5 years this should include the integration, unit and regression testing. It is essential that the candidate has strong knowledge of C development tools. Recent UK militarydefence experience essential The developer must have a clear understanding of the Software lifecycle. The developer will require skills to build and install the C applications. They will require skills to test and deploy custom solutions to different platforms by developingusing an Installer. Work with team members to provide a strategy of releasing tried and tested solutions to an operational site using full or incremental release routes. Use UML to model software design. Have knowledge of C to provide customised solutions. Have a working knowledge of the MS Visual Studio 2006IDE or other MS Visual Studio suite development environment The developer needs to be able to work with minimal supervision and must be a team player. The candidate must be able to document and report technical information clearly and concisely. Desirable Characteristics Previous Knowldege of MagicSkynet Progress IT is desirable that the candidate has a understanding of Java GUI development using Swing preferably 5 years this should Include the integration, unit and regression testing Have an understanding of CORBA That the candidate has knowledge of Java development tools. Understanding of Network Control Centre architecture and satellite communication systems. Experience with Rational ClearCase and ClearQuest or similar configuration control and change control tools. Experience with Enterprise Architect UML tool. Understanding of software testing principles
