(Telecompaper) CSR is exploring a possible sale after receiving takeover offers from various rival semiconductor manufacturers. The company has hired bankers to sound out offers and assess the merits of a sale, people familiar with the matter told the Financial Times. The company could sell for as much as USD 3 billion, the report said, compared to a market capitalisation of USD 1.57 billion. According to one of the people, CSR is already talking with a potential suitor and could reach an agreement within weeks. However, others cautioned that the process was at an early stage and that there was no certainty of a deal. CSR's components are used in mobile phones, satellite navigation systems, Bluetooth headsets and in-car entertainment systems.
