The cost of repairing hybrids is getting cheaper, overall, for consumers with so many more of them on the road today than a few years ago. Hybrids have been getting more popular with car owners, and for dealers represent a rich market niche for sales, remarketing, and service department revenue. A new CarMD survey on repair costs around the country show that basic, simple repairs went up in cost to car owners 10% last year over 2011. However, the cost of more serious repair work, such as replacing a hybrid battery, has gone down. New Jersey had ironic findings in the survey at both ends of the scale. The numbers were high for basic repairs that show up on the check engine lights, but its cost for big repair jobs was the highest in the country. Does that have anything to do with Hurricane Sandy?
