New-work bar hangers feature locating tabs to facilitate installation and arched profile for higher load ratings. Old-work bar hangers, designed for use in existing ceilings, are installed through 4 in. hole and expanded to secure box to ceiling joists. Both accommodate joists spaced from 16–24 in.
