(Telecompaper) Spanish infrastructure operator Cellnex Telecom is planning to consolidate its leadership of the European towers market by acquiring a 60 percent controlling stake in France's TDF Infraestructure for around EUR 3 billion, according to unnamed financial sources cited by business daily Expansion. Cellnex is already present in France through its various deals with Bouygues Telecom and will be managing around 5,000 sites including new tower builds by 2022. TDF currently has a portfolio of some 13,900 sites, half of which are broadcasting towers and the rest mobile towers.
