(Telecompaper) Taiwanese mobile telephony operator Chunghwa Telecom (CHT) expects launch a NFC-based mobile payment services through a cooperation agreement with MasterCard, four local banks and EastCard on 16 October. The service will support the HTC Butterfly 2, HTC One M8 as well as Sony Mobile Communications' Xperia T2 Ultra and Xperia Z2 smartphones initially, according to CHT. The NFC-based mobile payment services will be available only to CHT subscribers who apply for CHT SWP-SIM cards and download MasterCard PayPass credit cards issued by any of the four local banks and EasyCard onto the SWP-SIM cards based on OTA (over the air) technology, according to the report.
