We are currently looking for a Complex Fluids Science Coordinator to support us in the Netherlands. Complex Fluids Science Coordinator Key Tasks and Responsibilities As part of our Science Coordination Team, you will have the following responsibilities Discipline Coordinator for the field of Complex Fluids Monitoring of ESA Topical Teams in the general field of complex fluids, stimulating cooperation between scientists and industry for submitting proposals for application oriented research programmes Contributing to the formulation and updates of the ESA research plan for physical sciences in space identification of scientific priorities and support in Announcement of Opportunities definitions and evaluations Development of potential project proposals to the Framework Programme of the European Commission. Project Scientist for the selected projects in the field of Complex Fluids Supporting the scientific teams in the translation of their scientific objectives into experimental requirements, and their synthesis into specifications for instruments to be operated on various lowgravity carriers ESRs Experiment Scientific Requirements document Coordination of the experimental programme of these projects together with the divisions in charge of the hardware development and operations. Monitoring the exploitation of the flight results collecting reports from the science teams and collecting all relevant publications Dissemination of project results including the coordination of inputs to the Experiment Archive and maintenance of the website as appropriate. Skills Experience You will have the following qualifications and relevant experience PhD in a relevant field of physics including extensive utilisation of optical diagnostics Experience in microgravity research andor experimentation Ability to effectively manage groups of international scientists and to actively interface with industry and with project managers in a complex environment Fluency in English is mandatory, the knowledge of another European language will be an advantage.
