Key Tasks and Responsibilities As part of the coordination support at EAC, you will have the following responsibilities Support to the Coordination of the Topical Teams Support to the preparation and implementation of Announcement of Opportunities Support to the feasibility assessment and selection of experiments Support to the additional management required for Microgravity Applications Projects MAP Collection of science requirements for individual experiments and preparation of the Experiment Scientific Requirements documents jointly with the corresponding SPOT team members Support the end to end coordination of science activities of the HRE Science Department, including interfacing with the scientific teams through the entire life cycle of projects Observer for the hardware development activities Participation to reviews during the hardware development life cycle Support to the analysis of data Collection of 30day reports and 1year reports following the flight of experiments Track the publications resulting from the science projects Supporting the definition of an explorationoriented portfolio of ground and space based experiments in support of the European exploration roadmap Coordinating within the Science and Utilization Group HRER the radiation related projects for exploration class missions Providing scientific expertise and support in coordination with ESA medical operations to the development of ESA elements on exploration class missions and associated technology developments Liaising between the Science and Utilization Group HRER and the Space Medicine Team HREOM on the topics of radiation protection and radiobiology for exploration class missions Representing HRER and supporting HREOM in multilateral boards on Health Risk and Radiation Protection Supporting the Space Medicine Team in life sciences related boards and working groups with the aim of bringing an operational medicine perspective in the selection of the science complement for exploration class missions Reaching out to the European science community to stimulate the development of research projects that answer current outstanding challenges in the field of operational medicine, in general, and radiation protection, in particular Harmonizing the structure of exploration related science and operational private medical data with the aim of developing a consistent system of data that maximizes usability whilst implementing all necessary controls for the protection of personal data Actively pursuing personal scientific research, participating in research activities Supporting ESA outreach, communication and education activities in space medicine, life sciences and exploration, promoting ESAs activities and scientific results to a variety of audiences, including the general public. Skills Experience You will have the following qualifications and relevant experience Masters degree or preferably PhD in Biology, Biotechnology or Medicine Experience in ESA medical operations and in particular, radiation protection of ESA astronauts is considered an advantage Knowledgeexperience in crew health risk assessment for spaceflight, in particular, radiation health risk Knowledge of challenges and risks during exploration class missions, human research for spaceflight and in particular, scientific gaps in human research for spaceflight Experience in scientific project management, ESA procurement processes and representing ESA on international arena regarding astronauts health risk assessment is considered an advantage Experience in managing technical and scientific teams Researchpublication record Fluency in English is mandatory knowledge of another European language is an advantage.
