Critics raise questions about the validity of past tests of Flint's drinking water

That's at odds with tests conducted by the city of Flint and overseen by the Michigan Department of Environmental Quality, which didn't show higher than acceptable levels of lead in the water. "Flat out smoke and mirrors," says Marc Edwards, the lead researcher from Virginia Tech, describing the city's water testing.
