Cheap gas, low interest rates and the improving economy added up to a very good year for local auto dealerships as Orange County carbuyers bought more cars in 2014 than any other year since the recession. In Orange County 176,803 cars were sold in 2014, a 6.8 percent increase from 2013 and up 84 percent from 2009, the depth of the recession.
