Director, Government Affairs India Bangalore, Delhi or Mumbai This newly created position will support SESs market access efforts in India, and will engage primarily with the Government of India and regulatory agencies in India, including the Department of Space, the Indian Space Research Organization, the Department of Telecommunications, the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting and the Telecom Regulatory Authority of India. In this role you are responsible for ensuring the longterm success and right to win of SES in India. This will include helping to set up SESs operations in India and securing all necessary approvals. Being the country expert, you will act as an advisor to SES and as a key interface between SES and the Indian government and regulatory authorities. The role also supports other SES commercial and development teams in the pursuit of market development and other incountry opportunities and you must have proven relationships with senior level contacts within the Indian Government entities responsible for the communications industry and key communications companies, and experience in government relations works in India. in the position you will also be responsible for developing deeper relationships with existing SES customers and in identifying new Indian partners that will support SES in securing market entry into India. You would also be expected to support SES regulatory, market access and compliance activities in other countries in the AsiaPacific or EuropeMiddle EastAfrica regions. Therefore, experience and expertise in such countries would be an advantage and enable an expanded role. PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES Participate in the development of a coherent Market Access Strategy in India, and contribute to the execution of the resulting country strategic initiatives Expand and leverage network of relationships with key Indian government agencies and potential partners that secure and expand market access for SES GEO and nonGEO satellites and solutions in India Generate new relationships to support mainstream revenue growth of SESs business in India and outside of India Act as India subject matter expert, and provide support to Legal, SES Video and Networks business units, Strategy, MA, Business Innovation, Fleet, Asset Management and Spectrum, as required Support regulatory and compliance efforts for SES and SES partner operations in India, in close collaboration with the Regulatory team Carry out SES advocacy activities in SESs name or through regional trade associations to defend and promote company policy objectives before India regulatory and policy making bodies Help identify political, legal, andor commercial issues and risks for management consideration in India and prepare highlevel risk mitigation strategies Support frequency coordination negotiations with India satellite operators in close collaboration with the SES Spectrum team, as required Support SES regulatory, market access and compliance activities in other countries in the AsiaPacific or EuropeMiddle EastAfrica regions COMPETENCIES Excellent communicator able to develop and present points in an inspiring manner to a variety of internal and external senior audiences written and oral Collaborative individual, able to build relationships across all levels and functions of the organization and effectively manage conflicts Familiarity with or ability to acquire knowledge of the regulatory and institutional frameworks applicable to SESs activities in India Strong strategic skills, with the ability to choose the right course of action and make agile changes when needed Excellent negotiation skills and ability to maintain high level of legal risk mitigation for SES Execution orientation with the ability to deliver results despite a complex business environment Ability to manage time, set priorities and work independently in a demanding commercial and internationally oriented environment, with ability to work at distance time zone and geographically from other team members Capability to work in an organized manner with attention to detail and a high level of accuracy Proactive and independent attitude Must be a team player able to work across cultures in a diplomatic manner QUALIFICATIONS EXPERIENCE Indian citizen Fluency in English required University degree in a relevant field e.g. business, politics or law Senior personality with relevant experience 510 years in the communications industry with a communications operator, satellite operator, Government agency or private entityies in the communications industry Experience of leading or supporting the successful government advocacy for andor market entry of a foreign public or private communications company into India Extensive network in the broader industry and at GovernmentInstitutions level in India Understanding of international legal and regulatory matters, including but not limited to market access, trade, ITU, antitrust in India Excellent understanding of political, legal and commercial context in India We offer you A diverse workplace.
