Agrees to Shutter Three Coal Units
Duke Energy agreed to a $5.4 million settlement of a 15-year legal fight with the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency over alleged violations of the federal clean air act, the New York Times reported.
Duke agreed to close three facilities at a five-unit coal burning plant west of Charlotte, N.C., by 2024 as part of the settlement of a dispute that was set to go to trial in October.
