EE adds 1.5 million 4G customers in Q2

(Telecompaper) UK operator EE said it added 1.5 million net 4G customers in Q2 to reach a total 10.9 million at the end of June, up by 6.7 million year-on-year. It is on track to reach 14 million 4G customers by year-end. The 4G network reaches 90 percent of the population, covering over 600 major towns and cities. EE also registered Q2 post-paid net additions of 178,000 (including M2M) to help reach a total of 30.9 million mobile connections, up from 30.8 million in Q2 2014. Post-paid customers account for 62 percent of the total mobile customer base. The pre-paid customer base fell by 184,000 year-on-year. Turnover for the first half of 2015 was GBP 3.12 billion, up 0.1 percent year-on-year. Operating revenue fell 0.5 percent to GBP 2.98 billion. Adjusted EBITDA was still up 9.2 percent to GBP 830 million. Home broadband growth, driven by EE TV, continued to outpace the market, the company said. In Q2, EE added 35,000 net fixed broadband customers, and fixed-line revenue rpse 18 percent year-on-year. The MVNO base reached 3.7 million, up 1.3 percent year-on-year.
