During SepticSmart Week (September 23–27), U.S. EPA encourages homeowners to take action to ensure their septic systems are functioning properly. EPA's Nancy Stoner said homeowners can help protect their community's health and local waterways "By taking a few small, simple steps to care for their home’s septic system."
