According to annual U.S. EPA Toxics Release Inventory (TRI) report, most toxic chemical waste managed at industrial facilities in USA was not released into environment in 2013. Report shows approximately 22 billion pounds (84%) of 26 billion pounds of toxic chemical waste were managed via such preferred practices as recycling. Of 4 billion pounds disposed of or otherwise released to environment, 66% went to land, 19% to air, and 5% to water. Remaining 10% was transferred to other facilities.
