We are looking to further enhance our team by adding a EPSSG Science Support Consultant You will be based initially for 2 years at our clients headquarters in Darmstadt, Germany. Extension of a further 2 years may be possible. In this large European Agency you will find an excellent and modern working environment with challenging tasks and responsibilities. Your Tasks Include The activities for this consultancy will include scientific aspects related to the development of the product processing functions of the optical imaging missions in the EPSSG ground segment. The consultant will work in a matrix structure providing crossdivisional support and be hosted in the Remote Sensing and Products Division of the Technical and Science Support Department. The tasks and responsibilities will include Preparation of product generation specifications for the product processing facilities Prototyping of product generation functions Generation of product contents specifications Preparation of test data Preparation of initial calibrationvalidation plans Contribution to the generation of performance budgets Assessment of results from external studies Contribution to the initiation of scientific support studies System meetings and activities of instrument functional chain teams Participation in ground segment andor instrument reviews, progress and technical meetings. The support will involve close crossdivisional interactions and interface with experts in various disciplines system engineering, instruments, ground segment, operations, science. Your Profile Scientific consultancy is sought in the areas of optical imaging to support the development work for the optical imagers METimage visibleinfrared multispectral, mediumresolution imager and 3MI Multiviewing, Multichannel, Multipolarisation imager. The consultant shall have the experience and capability to fulfill the assigned tasks with a minimum level of supervision. The consultant shall have the following experience and background University degree in remote sensing, meteorology, oceanography, physics, or equivalent At least three years of experience in the field of remote sensing in one or more of the areas listed above, including involvement in processing of satellite data up to level 1 calibrated geolocated radiances andor level 2 geophysical parameters Very good skills in a highlevel, compiled programming language, such as Fortran, CC, Java Fluency in commandline use on LinuxUnix platforms Skills in writing scientifictechnical documents Familiarity with Microsoft Office Good interpersonal skills in support of team work The following experience would be an additional asset Experience in understanding and specifying requirements Experience with the specification, development and validation of satellite data processing chains Experience with calibration and product validation methods Knowledge in radiative transfer. The working language is English, fluency is mandatory the consultant must be able to work effectively in this language.
