El Paso-based Helen of Troy's sales hit a record of $1.29 billion in its recently completed 2013 fiscal year largely due to healthy sales of name-brand thermometers, humidifiers and other products in its health care/home environment division, while its core business in name-brand hair dryers and hair shampoos continued to struggle.
