FAA Announces Alaska UAS Test Site Begins Research Flights

FAA announced that the University of Alaska's unmanned aircraft system test site is the second of 6 to become operational. Agency has granted the University of Alaska Fairbanks a Certificate of Waiver or Authorization allowing flights by Aeryon Scout small UAS for animal surveys at its Pan-Pacific UAS Test Range Complex in Fairbanks. Main purpose of operation is to show how UAS can accurately locate, identify, and count large wild animals for survey operations requested by state of Alaska.
