The Federal Trade Commission has issued revised guidance designed to help businesses such as auto dealerships comply with requirements of the Red Flag Rule, which protects consumers by requiring businesses to watch for and respond to warning signs or red flags of identity theft.
The Rule requires that you train relevant staff only as necessary. Staff who have taken fraud prevention training may not need to be re-trained. Remember that employees at many levels of your organization can play a key role in identity theft deterrence and detection.
Most dealerships have already taken steps to comply and have plans and policies to combat identity theft and related fraud in place, but it is important to reiterate these steps from time to time.
Updates to the Federal Trade Commission Red Flag Guidelines for businesses make it necessary for auto dealerships to make sure they remain in compliance with the Red Flag Rules. Take this opportunity to review them at your dealership. [Read more]The Article FTC Revises Guide on Red Flags Identity Theft Rules appeared first on Automotive Digest.
