US - The pork industry has largely overcome the impacts of the 2014 PED virus. Pork producers have been disciplined in limiting expansion after record 2014 profits. As a result, pork supplies should be only modestly higher in 2016 and provide prices which cover all costs of production, writes Chris Hurt, Department of Agricultural Economics, Purdue University.
