Theres another fight in Washington over whether retail gasoline stations should have 15% percent ethanol blend in the gasoline they sell, or if it should stay at 10% or E10. The Federal Trade Commission is looking into assertions by 2 US senators that oil companies are pushing retail gas stations to block consumers from pumping up E15 gasoline. Oil companies and refineries say its all a big distraction over looking at the real issue that the 2007 renewable fuel standard should be gotten rid of. They say it will drive up the cost of gasoline theres not enough ethanol being made to go from E10 to E15 and it will get expensive to deliver. Oil companies and automakers continue to express disdain over E15s potential corrosive harm on engines and powertrains, too. Ethanol producers and corn growers are fighting back.
