FLIGHT DYNAMICS Engineers mf The Mission We anticipate your engagement will include contribution to both currently flying and future Earth observation and interplantary missions e.g. Earth Care, Galileo, Sentinels, Exomars, Rosetta as well as to interplanetary missions, including missions to Mars, Venus, the comet ChuryumovGerasimenko and to the Lagrange point. The Challenge We are searching for several Flight Dynamics Engineers, who would work on the site of our customer, the European Space Operations Centre ESOC, located in Darmstadt, Germany. Sample tasks include Orbit and attitude maneuver preparation, maneuver performance analysis, orbit determination and propagation, trajectory optimization, product generation, software test and validation, support for simulation campaigns and critical operations Attitude command file generation, actuator and sensor calibration, attitude determination Conceptual design studies for the operational flight dynamics system, operations preparation and planning Flight dynamics software maintenance Adaptation of algorithms to new and exotic space environments, adaptation to new interfaces and functional requirements, migration to new hardware andor operating systems These are fulltime positions with a planned starting date in April 2015 TBC. Your Qualifications Applicants should have a superior university degree, preferably in astro physics, mathematics, space engineering or a closely related discipline. Previous work experience in space flight dynamics is desirable, but not required. We welcome applications throughout Europe. Essential skills are Exceptional and rapid physical insight, combined with a practical and rigorous approach to problem solving Experience devising and realising mathematical algorithms to satisfy demanding scientific applications, ideally using Fortran, C, Matlab and Mathematica User level experience with the UNIX operating system English fluency, both verbal and written Ability to perform calmly and effectively under pressure Desirable skills are Knowledge of space flight dynamics and spacecraft attitude determination and control subsystems Some experience in scripting with Unix tools Some experience with flight dynamics operations Familiarity with mission analysis approach including software tools at ESOC Some experience in a similar consultancy role, as a resident consultant operating onsite within a customer organisation Experience with an international satellite organisation or similar entity Possession of documentationpermits for working and living in Germany Terma offers At Terma, we consider skilled employees, enthusiasm and job satisfaction as the very foundation of our success and as a prerequisite for the development of the bestinclass solutions that Terma provides.
