Flight Dynamics System Support Copernicus mf The Mission The main mission of the Sentinel3 satellites is to measure seasurface topography, sea and landsurface temperature and ocean and landsurface colour. The first satellite is scheduled for launch into a sun synchronous orbit in late 2015, with a second planned for 18 months later. The Challenge This is a full time position, at the site of our customer, the European Organisation for the Exploitation of Meteorological Satellites EUMETSAT, located in Darmstadt, Germany. Work is provisionally scheduled to start in May 2015. The successful candidate will support evolution and maintenance of the EUMETSAT Copernicus Sentinel3 flight dynamics system. Sample tasks include Maintenance and Evolution Activities Reengineering Analysis of porting requirements. Tradeoff studies of various technologies. Solution design. Procurement monitoring. Verification testing Evolutions and changes Generationanalysis of user and maintenancedriven software requirements. Software design. Procurement monitoring. Verification testing Preventive and corrective maintenance Investigation and correction of software anomalies. Associated verification testing Maintenance test procedures generation and update of maintenance test procedures at software facility level and at system level Support and development of the verification infrastructure Development andor procurement of scripts tools for installation checks, nonregression, functional and performance testing. Analysis and implementation of tools for automatic or semiautomatic verification testing Coordination of new software releases or patches Technical coordination of the external contractor production and installation of new releases and patches. Liaison with EUMETSAT operational users, participation in technical reviews, acceptance testing campaigns Execution and coordination of software verification and nonregression testing campaigns Preparation of test data, running the test procedures, generation of test reports, analysis of results and troubleshooting of problems Point of Contact Software support to application software endusers Provision of oncall services and software support Prepare and provide training covering application software usage and maintenance Technical point of contact for maintenance contractors acting as point of contact with the contractor for technical discussions, review of technical documentation from the contractor, organizing periodical technical meetings with the contractor Your Qualifications Essential qualifications are A university degree in space engineering, computer science or a closely related discipline Background in software maintenance, evolution and testing 3 years experience in the design, development andor customization of satellite flight dynamics systems for low earth orbiting missions 3 years experience in the full cycle of development of application software preferably for satellite flight dynamics systems following formal software engineering processes Specific experience in user and system requirement analysis, software requirement engineering, software design and implementation reflecting maintenance activities as well as new applications definition 3 years experience in corrective maintenance, integration and verification testing of application software for satellite flight dynamics systems conducted according to formal software engineering processes. Specific experience in requirement verification, generation of test plan and test procedures, nonregression testing, generation of test data, generation of test tools, running the test procedures on the target system, generation of test reports, and anomaly tracking, investigation, correction and testing 3 years experience in designing and developing software components and applications using object oriented approach including design patterns. 3 years experience in designing and developing software applications using Java and related technologies 3 years experience in developing software applications using Eclipse SDE Smart Development Environment and related projects and addons Desirable qualifications are Experience with software development and maintenance of satellite flight dynamics systems and tools based on the ESAESOC NAPEOS Navigation Package for Earth Observation Satellite Experience with software development and maintenance of Tools using the Orekit space dynamics library Knowledge of Satellite Mission Control Systems Knowledge of Mission Planning Systems Experience with software support to operations for satellite flight dynamics systems Experience as a technical point of contact for contractors working at offsite premises. Previous responsibility for application software evolution and maintenance Experience developing FORTRAN based software applications using Experience with the IBM DOORS requirement management tool Experience in version Control Systems CVS and SVN Experience with the Linux operating system Experience with the Unified Modelling Language UML for software design Experience in the usage of software CASE design tools e.g. Enterprise Architect andor MagicDraw Experience in designing and developing software client applications using Eclipse as HMI framework Rich Client Platform Experience using tools for software test automation. Experience with static and dynamic software analysis tools in support to testing and troubleshooting Experience in designing and developing component based software applications using formal techniques e.g. OSGi Experience in developing software applications using interfaces to relational database management systems RDBMS and experience with data model design for RDBMS. Some background with low earth orbiting observation missions Some experience in a similar consultancy role, as a resident consultant operating onsite within a customer organisation Experience with an international satellite organisation or similar entities. Possession of documentationpermits for working and living in Germany.
