Fonterra profit plunges, payout forecast cut

Fonterra has announced a big drop in the forecast farmgate milk price to $5.30 for the present season, with no promises the price slide will halt there. Their fortunes are tied to the amount of milk their cows produce and the amount the co-operative pays them for each kilogram of milksolids produced.
