(Telecompaper) Iliad announced that it has agreed to start phasing out roaming on Orange's network for its Free Mobile customers from the start of 2017. The 2G/3G contract runs until 2020 still, but the operators agreed an annex that will see Free start to end roaming from January 2017. Free said its own mobile network has reached 84.5 percent of the population covered with 3G and 68.3 percent with 4G. It has relied on Orange for roaming since it first launched mobile services in 2012. The companies said they had been in negotiations for several months on amending the contract. The regulator Arcep will be notified of the new agreement.
