German regulator plans lighter touch in fibre access market

2019-05-27 15:35:00| Telecompaper Headlines

(Telecompaper) The German Federal Network Agency said in its analysis of the so-called last mile access market that Deutsche Telekom continues to have significant market power, even if other network operators have improved their position. However, they cannot adequately limit the market power of Deutsche Telekom and the situation will not change even if the merger between Vodafone and Unitymedia goes through, the agency added. Telekom will remain subject to regulation, but should face fewer restrictions in the still developing FTTH market.
