Gree, Yahoo! Japan establish mobile games joint venture

(Telecompaper) Japanese social gaming content and platform provider Gree and Yahoo Japan have agreed to establish GxYz, a joint venture that will focus on the development and operation of social games for smartphones. Gree and Yahoo! Japan signed an agreement in November 2012 to develop a business collaboration aimed at using their strengths and creating a new entertainment business focusing on smartphones. Through the establishment of GxYz, the two companies aim to enhance their smartphone social gaming business collaboration, combining the user acquisition functionalities of Yahoo! Japan with the social gaming development and operational expertise of Gree, while developing exceptional social games that will open up new possibilities in the game development business. Gree and Yahoo! Japan aim to work together to create new value in the internet and entertainment world, sharing and co-promoting content while carrying out joint CSR activities.
