(Telecompaper) HTC unveiled its HTC Desire Eye, which had earlier been leaked to the press. During a conference in New York City, the company presented the smartphone, which sports a 13 megapixel camera on both the front and rear and is aimed at making 'selfies'. The HTC Desire Eye is the first smartphone in the world with such a high resolution camera at the front. The device also has a Full HD display of 5.2 inches, a 2.3 GHz quad-core processor, a memory of 2GB and an expandable memory storage of 16 GB. The Eye can make contact via Bluetooth 4.0, NFC and LTE. it will be priced at EUR 499 and will go on sale in certain market from mid-November. During the NYC event, HTC also showed its RE, a compact video camera that will compete with the GoPro action camera. The Re can be held in one hand to take picture and features a 16 megapixel camera and extra wide lens. Video images are stored on the internal memory of 8 GB or redirected to a paired Android or iOS smartphone. The Re will be priced at EUR 229 and will be available in certain market from next year.
