Tasks and Responsibilities Working for the Future Projects team, the successful candidate will be located at the Zaventem premises, and interact with an industrial team of engineers and researchers working, in an international consortium, on prototyping hardware to support the exploration of planetary bodies in the Solar System Moon, Asteroids, Mars. A prototype 3D printer, using sunlight and Moon regolith simulant is currently being developed. The candidate will assist the team in Preliminary design, prototyping and tradeoff of a lensbased and fiber opticsbased solar concentrator for a mobile printing head CAD design of systems and subsystems for the 3D printer Procurement and rapid prototyping of required parts In addition, the candidate will perform a literature review on Insitu resource utilization for Moon operations. Qualifications and experience University degree min 4 years or currently enrolled in a Masters degree in a relevant discipline e.g. Physics Engineering, Optics Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Robotics Engineering, Materials Engineering, Industrial Engineering Availability of 46 months required. Starting in October 2016 alternative start dates possible. Proven handson manufacturing andor integration experience e.g. academic projects, DIY Strong English language skills and ability to write documentation Fast learner, good communications skills, proactive, and able to work with limited supervision Experience with the following is considered an immediate asset for this internship CAD design CREO, Solid Works of mechanical components Optical systems System prototyping One or more of the following, are additional advantageous skills or qualifications Additive manufacturing 3D printing Solar concentration engineering Engineering in vacuum Notions of space engineering What Do we Offer? This is an unpaid internship of minimum 4 and maximum 6 months located in our offices in Zaventem Brussels. You will gain firsthands experience working on projects at international level which will enhance your resume with careerrelated experience. We offer a reimbursement, up to a certain amount, to cover the subsistence, transportation to the office and rent in case of relocation.
