High bank returns support credit ratings, says CBA's Craig

CBA's David Craig says high ROE banks reduce the potential for banks to require government support in a crisis. The chief financial officer of Australia's largest bank says strong returns on equity are important to maintain the high credit ratings from international agencies that keep bank funding costs, and hence interest rates, relatively low.
