Hong Kong Retail Sales: Negative Headwinds Persist

Hong Kong reported May retail sales that were essentially flat y/y, slightly better than the -2% decline expected by the consensus but nonetheless highlights the weakness of Chinese tourism and the impact of a rising USD. As such, jewelry and luxury consumer goods will continue to face headwinds and this should be a negative read-through to Tiffany's , Coach , Michael Kors and Kate Spade .
