EUMETSAT is Europes meteorological satellite agency monitoring the weather and climate from space 24 hours a day, 365 days a year We are currently looking for an experienced Process Services Coordinator for cloud based processing, from an operational IT, Engineering or Remote Sensing environment, to join our international team of young and inspiring engineers and industry professionals, tasked with driving innovation within the Space, Satellite and Earth Observation sector. This role is routed in the mission of EUMETSAT and will provide the opportunity to work with leading IT, Space and Earth Observation organisations and domain experts to make a positive impact on society! Background EUMETSAT is evolving towards a datacentric approach for the provision of Earth Observation data services to users, based on big data technologies and architectures, including cloudoffered computing resources, applications and hosted processing capabilities Data as a Service, DaaS bringing the user to the data and allowing to perform processing centrally rather than downloading large amounts of data first. The Hosted Processing Services Coordinator will engage in the definition, testing and validation of a future hosted processing service offer and ensure the delivery and evolution of the validated service to users. Prime users of the service are Member State Meteorological Services, the EUMETSAT Satellite Application Facilities, and key partners such as ECMWF, developing and operating a variety of domain specific applications Duties Define a future EUMETSAT offer for hosted processing service, that is compatible with the available cloud resources and applicable service policy Define with users the preferred Collaborative Processing Environments for several applications of satellite data, such as for weather prediction and nowcasting, environmental and climate monitoring etc. Validate the EUMETSAT hosted processing offer based on selected use cases, including coordination of the availability and provisioning of required input datasets Ensure the delivery and evolution of the validated hosted processing service to users, with the support of engineers responsible for the maintenance and evolution of the underlying infrastructure and hybrid cloud management systems Develop and maintain a rolling user onboarding plan, establishing priorities and planning constraints such as data availability Coordinate and manage user onboarding to the hosted processing services, including assessing the use case including identification of suitable input data managing the setup of the required storage and compute resources in the cloud assisting on service issues Report on system performance, resource usage and needs and on the level of fulfilment of relevant Service Level Agreements based on KPIs Review user feedback and lead requirements evolution on the hosted processing service. Requirements Qualifications A University degree or equivalent in Meteorology Oceanography Atmospheric Physics with experience in large scale cloud computing. Alternatively, a University degree or equivalent in Computer Science Information Systems Cloud Technology Software Engineering with strong background in supporting application development in Meteorology or Oceanography preferably in cloud environments. Skills and Experience Proven experience with cloud native applications and cloud services based on Kubernetes, Docker, VMWARE, OpenStack Customer orientation, including ability to translate user requests and needs into service requirements Indepth knowledge of Linux and programming experience, preferably in Python Knowledge of relevant applications of earth observation data or model output would be an advantage Excellent communication and synthesis skills Excellent interpersonal skills, applied in a multidisciplinary team.
