Aurora is an established supplier of skilled manpower to ESA and in particular at ESTEC and ESAC. Aurora has the opportunity to expand our support to ESA in the domain of Earth Observation. This position is a replacement for our engineer who is joining EUMETSAT. Overview The holder of this post will contribute to all aspects project internal activities and monitoringreview of the relevant industrial activities relevant to the system performance of the Biomass mission up to Level 1b TBC products in the context of the design and implementation activities undertaken in the frame of the Biomass Project. The post holder will report to the MTGI Product and System Manager, Earth Observation Projects Department. In particular the tasks include Follow up the development and procurement of the IRS Quality Tools IQTS, its algorithms and associated tools Follow up the development and procurement of the IRS Payload Data Generator PDG Follow up the definition of the IRS algorithms for simulation, on board processing, and Level 1 ground processing Provide technical support to Satellite and Instrument reviews Provide support to the IRS calibration characterisation onground and inflight activities Provide support to the Validation Verification of the tools Support the IRS radiometric and geometric performance analyses Interface EUMETSAT in the IQT and PDG meetings Prototype inhouse concurrent IRS geometric, radiometric and spectral performance models. The Instrument Quality Tool Engineer will work in the MTG System Section and will cooperate closely with the Instrument Principal Engineer, the System Performance and INR engineer, and the technical support from DTEC where necessary. Specific qualification requirements University degree Masters or higher or equivalent qualification in physics or engineering with experience in data processing of scientific instruments. Proven experience in prototyping geometric performance models. Experience in Image Navigation and Registration filters would be an asset. Candidates shall demonstrate good experience with software packages such as C, IDL, Matlab. Ability to work and communicate effectively in English. Be able to work independently and also work with colleagues within a team. Legal and Security Requirements All applicants must be legally allowed to work in The Netherlands Applicants are required to provide a copy of their passport and degree certificate. Aurora will validate the Degree with the issuing University and provide evidence to ESA. Prior to issuing a letter of employment the applicant shall provide to Aurora a recent official document declaring that they are of good conduct from the country where currently resident. Location The work will be performed at the European Space Technology and Research Centre ESTEC at Noordwijk, The Netherlands. Contract The selected candidate will receive good remuneration. Will be registered for both social security and tax in the Netherlands. The standard working hours are 40 per week. There are 12 public holidays and an additional 30 annual days holiday. Training to improve efficiency and provide strength for future career are of course included. Aurora assist with relocation both with support and financially.
