Intel to launch USD 495 MICA smart bracelet in December

2014-11-18 10:11:00| Telecompaper Headlines

(Telecompaper) Intel has officially unveiled its luxury smart bracelet, dubbed MICA, which will be available at Barneys and Opening Ceremony stores in December at a price of USD 495, including two years of AT&T data. The bracelet, whose name is short for My Intelligent Communication Accessory, has been engineered by Intel and designed by fashion cooperative Opening Ceremony. It is offered in two versions: the first is covered in black snakeskin with pearls and lapis stones, and the second comes in white snakeskin with tiger's eye and obsidian glass. Both styles feature a curved sapphire screen, which is intended to sit on the inside of the wrist, not the outside. The makers said the device is designed to act as a "personal concierge", offering intelligent reminders after syncing with the user's Google calendar and Facebook accounts. Intel has also teamed up with Yelp to provide localised restaurant and shopping recommendations. The bracelet comes with its own AT&T SIM card with data paid by Intel for two years, up to two days of battery life, as well as remote locking and location tracking.
