'It's do or die' as Michigan competes for data centers

West Michigan could lose its best chance to land a new industry - data storage centers - if the state legislature and Gov. Rick Snyder fumble legislation that would create tax incentives to locate here, said Birgit Klohs, president and CEO of The Right Place Inc. "It's do or die," said Klohs, who is trying to land Nevada-based Switch to locate a giant data center in the former Steelcase pyramid in Gaines Township. "If we lose this one, we won't just lose a project, we'll lose our place in the lineup."
