Job Title Java Software Engineer Portsmouth Start ASAP Security Clearance SC Clearance Duration 6 Months Extendable The Java Software engineer is required to support COMCEPT NPCS Project Work Packages and RD activities within the SatCom Network Management group. The applicant must have exceptional software engineer with a proven delivery record and development skills particularly in JAVA EE and python. The engineer must have a broad range of experience with software and its applications, experience of Software development using the Agile methodology and preferably, knowledge of Network Management Systems. The engineer must be able to contribute to all stages of the Software development lifecycle including requirements analysis, design, test and also coding. The engineer must be able to take ownership of a development area and where necessary engage in technical discussions with key stakeholders. Primary Duties Must be capable and responsible for Working with architects to develop solution design and select tools, frameworks, and libraries Detailed Software Design Development of and ownership of a specific area of development Task estimation Software Development, Testing and Documentation Software Coding Software Configuration and Build Management Software and System Integration Guiding and mentoring of software engineers as and if required Essential Competencies The following key technical skills are required Degree level education to Masters level would be preferable Java Core current Java Enterprise Edition current Spring Framework Java Server Faces JSF2 using PrimeFaces or other JSF Implementation HibernateJPA Knowledge and use of major design patterns Eclipse NetBeans IDE SVN or similar version control management system JUnit SNMPSNMP4J JQuery Python Network equipment configuration JavaScript CSS HTML XHTML XML Parsing SQL Databases particularly MySQL SQL Tomcat UnixLinux Windows environments Agile Development Processes Continuous build environments Issue tracking systems UMLSysML using Enterprise Architect or similar Application Server Containers GlassFish JBoss Software system integration Network Management Systems Control Monitoring Systems IP Networking The following key soft skills are required Ability to selfmotivate and to motivate team members Ability to promote innovation in self and others Ability to interact with internal external stakeholders in a confident and professional manner Ability to deliver to Quality, Cost and Schedule Ability to follow processes but also challenge to improve processes Desirable Competencies The following technical skills are desired Java Swing RMI AJAXAJAX Libraries JSPServlets XSLXSLT LDAP TCLJACL C JavaFX HTML 5 Web Services Telephony Systems Secure Key Management Systems DVB Gateway Systems Asterisk Call Manager Cisco Configuration
