On Thursday, the Kansas City Council introduced an ordinance that would authorize City Manager Troy Schulte to execute a $2.85 million contract with St. Louis-based World Wide Technology Inc. to procure hardware and software necessary for the project. In late April, the council authorized spending $3.7 million on the $15 million public-private partnership, which also will include contributions from San Jose-based Cisco Systems Inc. and Overland Park-based Sprint Corp. The ordinance, sponsored by Mayor Sly James , was referred to the Finance, Governance & Ethics Committee, which is scheduled to meet at 8:30 a.m. Wednesday.
