For our activities in ESTEC, we are currently looking for a Lead System Administrator. Main responsibilities Tasks and Responsibilities The role will involve Service management responsibilities including Service Portfolio Management Service Delivery and Support Asset and configuration management including License Management Incident management including categorization and prioritisation. In addition to the above the selected candidate will lead a service that provides Local User Support to TECQ. Within the scope of the service the selected candidate will also be responsible for IT Governance, Quality management, Documentation management. The fundamental technical scope of this role is on system administration. Serco shall ensure that its policies, procedures and guidelines are aligned with ESAs Security Directives AD05 and other ESA policies, procedures and guidelines Serco shall have a process in place to ensure that their personnel and Agency personnel access rights are terminated or restricted upon user departure or job change system, network and physical Serco shall ensure that Administrator access to a device is controlled to the degree that only authorized users can make changes to a device The successful candidate shall be responsible for ensuring that no security breaches occur for the laboratory facility systems and their connections to the ESTEC network and external networks The successful candidate shall monitor attempts to violate security from inside and outside the Agency The successful candidate shall document, maintain and implement a TECQ data storage, backup and disaster recovery policy and procedure, which shall be agreed by the Agency The successful candidate shall actively monitor data storage capacity demand and provide storage capacity planning. Additional tasks would include systems operation and maintenance Maintenance of TECQ databases and Microsoft SharePoint, Management of TECQ internal and external UNIX and Microsoft Windows server services, and is responsible for their configuration control. All system modifications and events shall be recorded in logs, which shall be maintained as a record of activities Serco shall operate and maintain TECQs laboratory network infrastructure. The role will also include certain service responsibilities within Software requirements, design and analysis Software development, verification and validation ensuring the use of Agile methodologies such as Scrum Software release and deployment management. Ideal candidate Requirements The successful candidate should bring a Master Degree in the field of Computer Engineering or equivalent, at least 4 years of relevant working experience and the following Excellent skills in team leadership, work plan generation, helpdesk management, liaison with users and customers, definition of IT management policies and procedures Knowledge and experience of laboratory IT systems Knowledge and experience of web applications design, development, and operations Experience in designing and implementing MS SharePoint farms Knowledge and experience of system administration in a heterogeneous Unix Windows infrastructure, and in networking and security aspects A basic programming and scripting background.
