Liferay, TWO Web support and Java developer Technicians, based at European Space Astronomy Centre, Madrid, Spain Sercos space heritage over the last 40 years has placed us in the Space News Top 50 Space Industry Manufacturing and Services Companies. For our activities in the European Space Astronomy Centre Serco is looking to employ two Java Developer who are experience in Web Support and development to support webbased infrastructure based on the Liferay Portal solution and needs to be supported, maintained and serviced, both software as well as supporting customers, i.e., missions and project scientists. The customer support consists of hosting new customers on the Liferay environment and migrating existing customer sites from an already existing web environment, which will be phased out during the coming years, to the new environment. In addition, the Liferay based core needs to be interfaced with already existing applications and tools central authentication services, Content Server 10 document management system, media wiki, mysql databases, mantis, jira, etc.. For this, java based interfaces portlets need to be developed over the next years. The new webbased environment is cooperation between SREO at ESAC and SRES at ESTEC, the persons providing the service is required to spend time at ESTEC as well, this estimated time is 8 weeks per year. Task Develop, test, verify, maintain, support and document Liferay based portlets Support customers using the developed portlets Provide enduser documentation on how to use newly developed portlets Adapt portlet functionality to new requirements as necessary Ensure functionality of the developed portlets after upgrading Liferay or after upgrading the related applications to which the portlets are interfacing Administration of the Liferay Portal software General customer support on the Liferay Portal and associated applications Assist existing customers during the migration of their web sites to the Liferay environment, this includes content and applications Troubleshoot software incidents related to Liferay Portal or Liferay portlets Install and configure software package which complement Liferay, like Media Wiki, Kayako support, Mantis, Jira, Directory Server, Mysql enterprise. Output requirements Development of portlet interfaces as required by the deployment of the webbased infrastructure Installation, configuration and verifying newly developed Liferay based portlets Troubleshoot and fix problems related to the Liferay Portal software and to any developed portlets and associated applications Documentation for portal administrators and endusers of developed portlets Daytoday support to users using Liferay Successful migration of existing web sites and related applications to the Liferay environment Documentation of migration process and develop general procedures for migration Successful installation and configuration of those software packages which complement Liferay Qualifications and Requirements Applicants require a University degree in computing or software engineering, or equivalent together with several years of experience in java development Essential Skills In depth knowledge of and experience with the Liferay Portal solution, in particular Liferay MVC model view controller, Spring and Junit Experience to develop portlets using the Vaadin framework Knowledge about Content Server 10, in particular the web services provided within that product Knowledge on web related applications, like media wikis, Kayako support, mysql database, mantis and jira Working knowledge of English, both in speaking and in writing Please note that Serco reserves the right of changing the advertisement closing date or to close vacancy at any time.
