MeadWestvaco boosts share of coated bristol market with IPa s Carolina brand

International Paper's sale of its Carolina coated paperboard bristols brand to MeadWestvaco will give the latter control of the declining commercial printing grade, according to RISI contacts and capacity estimates. IP said its decision to sell Carolina was a result of its plans to convert the Riegelwood, NC, mill to 100% pulp, "thereby eliminating the manufacturing capability to produce the brand."
