MeadWestvaco's North Charleston chemical business to be spun off

Packaging giant MeadWestvaco Corp. plans to spin off its North Charleston-based chemical subsidiary into a separate, publicly traded business, it was announced Thursday. The board of the company already has approved the deal, which is expected to close by the end of the year.
